QPR boss Holloway targets striker

Ian Holloway is keen to bring an experienced striker to QPR to help them turn their season around.

Speaking to reporters following the 3-0 loss at Brighton – struggling Rangers’ sixth consecutive defeat – manager Holloway admitted that the lack of a cutting edge was costing his side.

“At the minute we’re not cutting it at this level, so we’ve got to try and sort that out in January, because we need some goals,” he said.

“You need to believe you’re going to score and I’m not so sure my whole team do. So I might have to help their belief by bringing some others in if I can.

“To replace Charlie Austin, I would have to do it with someone who I know can already do it, to help the younger ones and make them believe.

“I’ve got to be clever and resourceful. It might be about who I have to move out so I can get in, and I’m trying to do that as well.”

Holloway insisted he saw positives in the performance at the Amex Stadium, where R’s skipper Nedum Onuoha was sent off.

“I was very pleased with certain things. I thought we did very well at times,” he said.

“Unfortunately we didn’t get what we needed to get us back in it. The second goal was absolutely vital.”
