Nottingham Forest and Leeds United eyeing QPR star

Nottingham Forest and Leeds United are interested in QPR midfielder Massimo Luongo.

West London Sport have reported that Rangers are ready to sell the Australia midfielder because his contract expires next year and he is unlikely to sign a new deal with the club because of the wage structure at Loftus Road.

And London Football News understands that Forest and Leeds are both considering a move for Luongo, who has been with the R’s since signing from Swindon Town in the summer of 2015.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa is keen on Luongo’s QPR team-mate Luke Freeman but is set to miss out to promoted Sheffield United, who are keen to snap him up.

But Luongo would be a useful option for Leeds, having established himself as a key player for QPR during his time in west London.

Forest were interested in signing Luongo when Mark Warburton, now R’s boss, was the manager at the City Ground.

Warburton rates him highly but the club are looking to cash in now rather than lose Luongo for no fee when his contract ends in 2020.

And Forest are again in the running to sign the 26-year-old, who has made 145 Championship appearances, scoring 10 goals.
