New boss Warburton to make key change at QPR

Mark Warburton is set to make an important change following his recent appointment as QPR boss.

West London Sport reports that Warburton is set to bring in former Arsenal coach Neil Banfield.

The 57-year-old East Londoner is certainly not short of experience, having been a long-serving member of the backroom staff at Arsenal prior to Arsene Wenger’s departure.

Warburton has also pledged to work closely with QPR director of football Les Ferdinand in order to take the club in the right direction.

Warburton, who previously had a spell as Brentford sporting director when Uwe Rosler was manager, told Rangers’ website: “That relationship with the Director of Football is hugely significant, making sure it is transparent and honest.

“The manager has to feel – Uwe for example – he had to feel that I was there for him.

“He had to know that I’d always have his back whenever I went to speak to the board and I’m sure Les will be the same for me.

“Les knows I’ll be doing everything I can for the good of the team and vice versa and I’m sure in the weeks and months ahead the relationship will grow accordingly.”
