QPR are moving to bolster their squad following a terrible start to the season.
West London Sport, which previously broke news that Rangers were targeting Tomer Hemed and Nahki Wells, reported on Thursday morning that both are set to join on loan with Steve McClaren also keen to bring in a centre-back before the loan window closes.
Strikers Hemed, 31, and Wells, 28, are coming in from Brighton and Burnley respectively and could make their debuts in Saturday’s home match against Wigan.
McClaren is certainly in need of a boost, having lost all four league games since taking over as manager at Loftus Road.
His team were crushed 7-1 at West Brom at the weekend and on Tuesday night went down 3-0 at home to Bristol City.
McClaren was jeered by angry fans during that game but insisted afterwards that he is the right man to turn QPR’s fortunes around.
“Yes. Absolutely. I knew the situation when I came in,” he said.
“We’re in the loan market and free market and the owners are very supportive of that and that’s the key message to the supporters, who might not think that.
“We’ve been working behind the scenes to bring signings in and we expect one or two before Saturday.
“But certainly the next 10 days are big, because we have talent and potential out there.
“At the present moment we’re suffering. But I believe if we get the right players in we’ll be OK.”
