Huge blow for QPR as star man Willock is sidelined again

QPR talisman Chris Willock looks set for another spell on the sidelines with more hamstring trouble.

QPR talisman Chris Willock looks set for another spell on the sidelines with more hamstring trouble.

Willock needed surgery after suffering a hamstring tear in March and was badly missed by Rangers, who struggled without him at the end of last season and in the opening weeks of this campaign.

So it’s a huge blow for the west London side side that Willock limped off against Sheffield United and looks like he will be unavailable for a period of time.

Rangers are awaiting the results of a scan and won’t know the extent of the new injury until the results are back.

But Willock was clearly in pain as he limped off at Bramall Lane and looks certain to miss Friday’s game against Reading at the very least.

He picked up the injury shortly after scoring his sixth goal in nine appearances this season, highlighting again just how important he is to boss Mick Beale.

The 1-0 win at Bramall Lane left Beale’s side fourth in the Championship table and with their season going so well so far, the last thing they need is star man Willock being unavailable.

There is also a concern over goalkeeper Seny Dieng, who is nursing a thigh problem again.

Dieng was sidelined by a thigh injury last season and him being sidelined again would also be a huge blow for Rangers, who will have to turn to back-up keeper Jordan Archer if the Senegal international is out.
