QPR boss Ian Holloway has hinted that Ryan Manning will start at Preston in the absence of Luke Freeman.
Rangers will be without Freeman at Deepdale because his yellow card in the 2-2 draw against Brentford on Monday was his fifth booking of the season and he must serve a one-match ban.
Manager Holloway therefore has a decision to make and appears to have indicated that Irish midfielder Manning, 20, is in line for a recall.
Manning has impressed during previous first-team appearances but has seen his opportunities limited this season because of the form of midfield trio Freeman, Josh Scowen and Massimo Luongo.
Speaking to QPR’s website, Holloway admitted it was a blow to lose the in-form Freeman but his ban will give his replacement a chance to impress.
“Everyone is loving how he (Freeman) is playing. He’s looking a brilliant player, which he is,” Holloway said.
“But him being out gives somebody else a chance to come in and do well.
“To be honest it will probably be a very exciting young one who has done well for us before.”
Rangers are still without sidelined defenders Nedum Onuoha, Grant Hall, James Perch, Steven Caulker, Darnell Furlong and Joel Lynch.
