Holloway convinced QPR’s summer signings can come good

Ian Holloway believes summer signings such as Jordan Cousins and Nasser El Khayati will come good at QPR.

Dutchman El Khayati has struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular at the club since following former boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink from Burton to Loftus Road.

But Holloway, who begins his second spell as Rangers manager with a home match against Norwich City today, is convinced El Khayati has the quality to thrive in the Championship.

Holloway told West London Sport: “Has he fitted in here yet? I don’t know. But he’s a wonderful player I’m telling you.”

Cousins, meanwhile, impressed at Charlton but has so far struggled for fitness and form since arriving at QPR.

But Holloway believes the midfielder was a shrewd buy and that Rangers’ signings have generally been sound.

“For me he was a great signing – a great signing. He’s hungry, really wants to get forward and get a foot in. He’s a very, very talented boy,” Holloway said.

“Everything I could want is here. I think the way they’ve been doing it – trying to get back to the club we used to be – is the right way.”
