Has QPR chief dropped a major hint that McClaren is under pressure?

Amit Bhatia’s reaction to QPR’s defeat at home to Rotherham does not bode well for Steve McClaren.

Rangers boss McClaren appears to be under serious pressure after a terrible run of nine defeats in 11 Championship matches.

The loss to the third-from-bottom Millers, who had not won away from home this season, dragged Rangers into danger at the bottom end of the table.

It left them just seven points above the relegation zone – and chairman Bhatia pulled no punches in his assessment, describing the defeat as “horrendous”.

West London Sport reports that McClaren admitted after the match that QPR are now involved in a relegation battle.

They face Hull City away on Saturday and a defeat in that match really would turn the heat up on the former England boss.

“We’ve said to the players that we’re looking over our shoulder and need to pick up points,” said McClaren.

“We can see the 50-point mark and we need to get three wins very quick.

“The target has always been 50 points as quick as possible. After Leeds we said ‘let’s kick on and get them’ and we haven’t. We’ve collected one point.

“Since the Leeds game, which was only a couple of weeks ago, we’ve been poor.

“We should have kicked on. Instead, we’ve not. We now need to find the solution.”
