Mackie in talks with QPR over new deal

Jamie Mackie is in talks over a new contract with QPR.

West London Sport report that Mackie, whose current deal is due to expire this summer, has been offered a new contract but on reduced wages.

The 31-year-old, who is in his second spell at Loftus Road, is a popular figure among fans but has been hampered by injuries since his return to the club from Nottingham Foeest in 2015.

He has started just 17 league matches for the R’s since that move, scoring two goals, with one of them coming this season.

Mackie, part of Rangers’ 2011 Championship-winning squad, has previously said he wants to sign a new deal and remain at the club for the rest of his career.

Speaking in March, Mackie said: “I want to be here for as long as I can be. I love playing for QPR.

“I want to play for QPR, not for another club. I’ll hopefully do well for the rest of the season and it can all get sorted out.

“I want to sign for the club again and stay here for the rest of my career if given the opportunity, but I need to make sure I’m an asset for the club.”
