Defender Paul given new contract by QPR

Former Tottenham youngster Chris Paul has been given a new contract by QPR.

Defender Paul, 19, joined Rangers on a one-year deal in the summer after leaving Spurs.

His contract has now been extended to 2018 after he impressed during his time at the west London club.

Paul has yet to make his first-team debut but has been a substitute and now hopes to make the step up.

“Since I came in from Spurs, things have progressed well for me on a personal level,” he told QPR’s website.

“Coming into a club like QPR and seeing young players being given a chance is fantastic for someone like myself.

“We’re all learning all of the time and there’s a good feeling amongst the youngsters here.

“I’ve been on the bench a couple of times and now the next step is to try and force my way into the team and make my debut.

“I just need to keep pushing, keep trying to impress, and try and take any opportunities that come my way.”

Meanwhile, QPR are set to sign former Bolton defender Alex Finney, 20, on a contract until the end of the season following a recent trial.
