Joe Lumley looks set to stay at QPR and sign a new contract.
The goalkeeper has been on loan at Doncaster Rovers, where he impressed for the Yorkshire club.
Rovers have been in talks with Rangers about keeping Lumley, whose Rangers contract is due to expire at the end of the season.
QPR were open to offloading Lumley after both he and Liam Kelly were leapfrogged by Seny Dieng, who has firmly established himself as manager Mark Warburton’s first-choice keeper.
However, West London Sport reports that Motherwell have come in for Kelly and that he is set to join the Scottish club on loan for the rest of the season.
That appears to have changed Rangers’ stance on Lumley, who now looks likely to stay at Loftus Road.
In fact he could be set to sign a new deal, with club sources indicating that he will be offered an extension in order to avoid the prospect of losing him on a free transfer.
The news will come as a blow to Doncaster, who were keen to keep hold of Lumley.
He appeared to confirm he would not be returning to Rovers in an Instagram post in which he thanked them following the end of his loan spell.
Lumley wrote: “End of my loan spell(s) with @drfcofficial Thanks for having me! I wish the club all the best.”
