QPR and Nottingham Forest linked with Marcondes

QPR and Nottingham Forest are among clubs being linked with Emiliano Marcondes following his release by Brentford.

Marcondes is a free agent after the Bees opted not to give him a new contract despite his starring role in their promotion triumph.

He scored the second goal in their 2-0 victory against Swansea in the Championship play-off final – but it turned out to be his last appearance for the club.

The Mail say clubs in England, France and Germany have been showing an interest in snapping him up.

Meanwhile, Football League World suggest QPR and Forest could try to sign Marcondes, having previously been linked with him.

Marcondes made 97 appearances and scored seven goals during a three-and-a-half year spell at Brentford in which he was hampered by injury problems.

“Everyone could see what a big part Emiliano played in getting us promoted through the play-offs,” Bees boss Thomas Frank Brentford’s website.

“He was man of the match in the final, scored a goal and was everywhere and I think he was even better in the semi-final.

“He has been a big part of the squad and played a lot of games at the start of the season. He had an injury early in 2021 but I knew I wanted to play him in the play-off games because of his personality and the way he performs on the big occasion.

“Overall, I think Emi has been unlucky in his time with us. He got some injuries at crucial moments, but he has been a big part of what we have achieved.

“Emiliano will be missed by us. I would like to thank him for all his work for us. I am sure he will do a great job for his next club.”
