Osayi-Samuel set to complete Brugge move

Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion have seemingly decided against pursuing a deal for  Bright Osayi-Samuel.

West London Sport reported last week that QPR had accepted an offer from Belgian side Club Brugge for the winger and he had been withdrawn from the squad to face Millwall.

Osayi-Samuel was indeed absent for the game and QPR manager Mark Warburton confirmed afterwards that there had been “strong interest from a Belgian club” in the player.

Both Leeds and Albion have been heavily linked with Osayi-Samuel and Fulham were recently among clubs linked as well.

But West London Sport reports there has in fact been no approaches from other Championship clubs despite several being linked and Rangers hoping they would receive other offers.

The west London club therefore decided to accept a £4.7m bid from Club Brugge, who will be playing in the Champions League next season.

QPR recently triggered an option to extend Osayi-Samuel’s contract by another year – his deal at Loftus Road was due to expire this summer.

Rangers hoped he would sign a longer-term deal but have not persuaded him to do so.

He is therefore set to Belgium, having made a big impact QPR since being signed from Blackpool three years ago.
