Angel Rangel has joined Geoff Cameron in declaring that he wants to remain with QPR for at least another year.
Cameron told told West London Sport earlier this week that he wanted to remain at Loftus Road although the issue of his future is very much on hold because of the coronavirus epidemic.
The American’s contract expires this summer and QPR have an option to extend the deal by a year.
Rangers also have an option to extend Rangel’s contract – and the 37-year-old Spaniard hopes he has done enough to convince them to do so.
Rangel told West London Sport: “I definitely would like to stay for another season at QPR, I’ve made that very clear recently.
“However, we haven’t had any sort of discussions about it. I feel this Covid-19 situation has come at the worst possible time for me in a football sense.
“I’ve had a few little injuries during the season and now that I’ve finally kept myself fit I got a decent run of games in the team and at the same time the team has had a great run of form.
“I felt I had a chance to extend for another season but now everything is on standby and the priority is everyone’s health.
“By the way, it’s never easy to get a new contract at 37, but hopefully I’ve shown enough this season to earn that.”
Cameron, 34, in his second season at Loftus Road, having spent last term on loan from Stoke.
He signed a one-year deal with the option of a further year and, like Rangel, hopes that option will be triggered.
“There have been talks, but right now it’s not the focus,” Cameron said.
“Right now is probably not the right time to be speaking about that, with people struggling, losing their jobs and worrying about family.
“I’m happy at QPR and I’d like to stay, and when the time’s right there’ll be more discussions, but right now it’s not the priority.
“At the moment it’s a difficult situation. Everybody’s just trying to do the best they can.
“Mark Warburton, the staff and the whole club are trying to do their best to make sure everyone’s OK and their families are well.”
