Charlton, Sunderland and Portsmouth all want QPR defender

Charlton, Portsmouth and Sunderland want QPR defender Todd Kane.

London Football News understands the League One trio are all keen to snap up the former Chelsea trainee this summer.

Kane, 27, has plenty of Championship experience, having been on loan at Nottingham Forest, Blackburn, Preston, Bristol City and Hull prior to his move to QPR.

He has a year remaining on his contract at Loftus Road but looks set to move on in search of first-team football.

West London Sport recently reported that Kane is set to be axed with Rangers looking for a new right-back.

He was already out of favour under boss Mark Warburton, barely getting a look in during the final weeks of the season as Osman Kakay firmly established himself as the manager’s first choice.

Kane has made 60 league appearances since joining the R’s on a free transfer in the summer of 2019.

During his first season at the club he was involved in a battle for a place with Kakay, but the latter enjoyed more game time last term and Kane now looks likely to make a fresh start elsewhere.

Kane has not started a match since a draw at Millwall in March. Since then he has been restricted to a couple of appearances as a substitute.
