Holloway tells Morrison to ‘earn ice cream’

QPR manager Ian Holloway has warned that the club will discard Ravel Morrison if the wayward midfielder does not improve his work rate.

Morrison is on loan at Rangers, who have the option of signing him on a permanent basis from Lazio at the end of the season.

But he has made just two appearances, both as a substitute, since returning for a second loan spell at Loftus Road, and Holloway says he needs to prove he is worth a place in his team.

Holloway told West London Sport: “He’s one of my boys and if they don’t deserve ice cream I don’t give it to them.

“That’s my advice to anybody; you’ve got to earn your ice cream.

“With my four kids, they could play up and they wouldn’t get one. That’s the hardest thing, because you love them so much you want to say ‘go on then’.

“But no. You don’t get one. Go home, think about it and try to earn one.

“If he doesn’t work as hard as the rest of them then he isn’t going to play.

“I love the kid, but he’s got to work hard and he’s got to be on time. In his life in the past, that hasn’t been easy for him,” Holloway said.

“When you’re as talented as him, it’s a bit of a curse sometimes. But I think my group, how we are, if we can be consistent with him then we might see the best of him.

“If not, he goes back to Lazio. It’s as simple as that. I want him to want to be with us.”
