United not looking to sell Martial

Manchester United have no intention of selling Anthony Martial, according to reports.

Tottenham have been linked with the France international, whose agent Philippe Lamboley has told French radio that the forward wants to leave Old Trafford.

He has been out of favour under United boss Jose Mourinho, making just 18 Premier League starts last season.

Reports have claimed that Chelsea are also interested in Martial, but Spurs are widely reported to be leading the chase to sign him.

“After reflecting carefully on all the possibilities and all the parameters, Anthony has decided he wants to leave Manchester United,” Lamboley said to RMC Sport.

However, United have indicated they have no plans to sell Martial, who was signed from Monaco for £36m in 2015.

He has a year left on his current contract, which United have the option to extend by another season.

Meanwhile, Toby Alderweireld has suggested that he could stay at Tottenham despite Manchester United being interested in the defender, who is at the World Cup with Belgium.

Asked by reporters if he might still be a Spurs player next season, he replied: “Yeah, why not?

“I have two years left on my contract. I don’t know what is going to happen.”

There has been speculation over Alderweireld’s future for some time, with talks over a new deal so far coming to nothing.

He made just 14 appearances for Tottenham in the Premier League last season, having initially been injured and later left out by boss Maurico Pochettino amid growing uncertainty over the centre-back’s future.
