Ange Postecoglou declared that the foundations are “really fragile” at Tottenham following the 2-0 defeat against Manchester City.
The result means Spurs have missed out on Champions League football next season – a disappointing end to an often encouraging first campaign under boss Postecoglou.
It also means City will pip Arsenal to the Premier League title if they beat West Ham this weekend.
“The foundations are really fragile,” Postecoglou said during his post-match press conference. “The last 48 hours have shown me that.
“It’s inside the club, outside the club. Outside, inside – everywhere. It’s been an interesting exercise. It’s just my observations, mate.
“That’s just what I think. I just think the last 48 hours have revealed a fair bit to me. That’s alright. It just means I’ve got to go back to the drawing board with some things.”
Spurs competed well in the first half and City struggled to break them down, but second-half goals from Erling Haaland – one of them a penalty – secured the points for the visitors.
Postecoglou also indicated that he is keen to make changes this summer.
“I already know what I want to do, it’s just I’ve got to make some adjustments to how I do it,” he said.
