QPR star says previous managers were wrong about him

QPR midfielder Massimo Luongo says he is has proved that his previous managers were wrong to think he does not have a strong defensive side to his game.

The Australia international has been in excellent form under Rangers manager Ian Holloway, who has deployed him in a deeper role.

“Every manager I’ve had thinks I’m an attacking player and that I can’t defend, or I don’t want to defend, which is just completely false,” Luongo told the Australian Associated Press.

“I’ve just been in teams where they don’t ask me to defend. It’s good’ I’m clearing that up that I can do both.

“So I’ve been getting on the ball and making us tick a little bit, or trying to. He (Holloway) says that’s where he sees me.”

Meanwhile, Luke Freeman, who has also been in great for the R’s, says he is revelling in the central midfield role Holloway has played him in since his move to west London from Bristol City in January

Speaking on The Loftcast, Freeman said: “When we won the double at Bristol City I played as a number 10 but I have never played in like a flat three before but it’s where the gaffer thinks I play best and to be fair I’ve really enjoyed it.”
