Man City v Tottenham teams: Wimmer returns with Vertonghen out, Stones axed, Jesus a sub

Tottenham recall Kevin Wimmer to their three-man defence after Jan Vertonghen was ruled out for the trip to Manchester City.

Vertonghen is expected to be out for up to six weeks with the ankle injury picked up in the 4-0 win over West Brom last week.

Otherwise, Spurs are unchanged as Erik Lamela continues to be sidelined with a hip problem.

Spurs will have been boosted by the defeat of title rivals Liverpool in the lunchtime kick-off and will want to narrow the gap on Premier League leaders Chelsea.

Manchester City make two changes with Aleksandar Kolarov replacing John Stones in the back four following the 4-0 loss at Everton last time out.

Leroy Sane is also in the line-up, with Bacary Sagna making way.

Forward Gabriel Jesus, signed for £27m from Palmeiras, is among the City substitutes, as is Fernando who is back from injury.

Fellow midfielder Fernandinho remains suspended.

Manchester City: Bravo; Zabaleta, Otamendi, Kolarov, Clichy; Toure; Silva, De Bruyne, Sane, Sterling; Aguero.
Subs: Caballero, Kompany, Fernando, Nolito, Delph, Stones, Gabriel Jesus.

Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris; Dier, Alderweireld, Wimmer; Walker, Wanyama, Dembele, Rose; Eriksen, Alli; Kane.
