Pochettino linked with Arsenal manager’s job

Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is among those being linked with the Arsenal manager’s job amid reports that Unai Emery could be axed.

Pochettino was recently sacked by Spurs and it looks like there could soon be another sacking in north London, with Unai seemingly close to the end of his tenure at the Emirates Stadium.

A dismal display against Southampton continued a miserable spell for Arsenal, who look set to make a change.

The Daily Telegraph say Gunners players have lost faith in Emery and do not believe he can turn their season around.

Meanwhile, The Times say Arsenal would be interested in speaking to Mikel Arteta and Massimiliano Allegri about the job.

Former Arsenal midfielder Arteta is currently Pep Guardiola’s right-hand man at Manchester City, while former Juventus boss Allegri has long been linked with a move to the Premier League.

And The Sun say Pochettino has emerged as a shock contender to take over at his former club’s north London rivals.

The Sun reckon Pochettino is on Arsenal’s radar along with Arteta, Allegri and Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers.

The newspaper does add, though, that Pochettino may be reluctant to take the job because of his association with Spurs and that he is happy to wait for potential jobs at Manchester United, Bayern Munich or Real Madrid.
