Chelsea and Spurs among clubs linked with Daka

Chelsea and Tottenham are among Premier League clubs being linked with RB Salzburg striker Patson Daka.

The Sunday Express say the Blues, Spurs, and Liverpool have been joined by Leicester in a race to sign the 22-year-old Zambian.

The newspaper suggest Leicester have identified him as a potential long-term replacement for their veteran striker Jamie Vardy.

Daka scored 29 goals in 36 matches last season, prompting speculation that he could be involved in a big-money move this summer.

Chelsea are widely expected to bring in at least one forward in the coming weeks.

And Spurs’ new director of football Fabio Paratici will be handed the task of revamping their squad following a disappointing season for the north London club.

His appointment was confirmed on Saturday and chairman Daniel Levy believes Paratici, who spent 11 years at Juventus, can replicate his success there.

Levy told the club website: “I’ve known Fabio for a number of years and he brings with him a wealth of experience in scouting, youth and football operations.

“He has an outstanding track record in assembling competitive squads. As we all know, Juventus have been a highly successful club and he has been a major part of that. He will be a great addition to the management structure. I am delighted that he will be heading up the football side of the club as we look ahead to next season.”

Paratici said: “I am thrilled by this fantastic opportunity and I thank the club and the chairman for the trust in me.

“Tottenham is one of the top clubs in the UK and in Europe with an ambitious long-term plan.

“I will dedicate all myself to this new venture and look forward to working with the management team to write a new and hopefully successful chapter in the club history.”
