Rudiger to discuss Chelsea future at end of season, Sky say

Antonio Rudiger will discuss a new contract with Chelsea at the end of the season, according to Sky Sports News.

It follows speculation that the Germany defender could sign a new deal after becoming a key player since Thomas Tuchel took over as boss.

But he is now tipped to wait until after his country’s involvement in this summer’s European Championships before addressing his club future.

He was axed by ex-boss Frank Lampard and appeared to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge before Tuchel was brought in after Lampard was sacked.

Rudiger was restored to the side by his fellow German and is now in a much stronger position at the club.

But Sky suggest Rudiger wants assurances over Tuchel’s long-term future before agreeing to sign a new deal.

The contracts of both Rudiger and Tuchel are due to expire at the end of next season.

Reports recently suggested that Tuchel has been in talks about a new contract following his brilliant start at Chelsea.

But the head coach insisted at a press conference last week that was not the case and that his focus is purely on upcoming matches.

Tuchel said: “No no. There’s no need and no time for this right now.”
