Brentford appear to have had a bid for Keane Lewis-Potter snubbed by Hull City.
West Ham have also been linked with the England Under-21 international, as have Leeds United, and their chances of signing him seem to have been boosted after the Bees fell short with their latest offer.
Brentford’s bid, thought to be in the region of £20m, is “not enough” and Hull hope to keep him, the Championship club’s vice-chairman Tan Kesler has told BBC Humberside.
Kesler confirmed a “firm offer” had been received for the 21-year-old, who is regarded as one of the country’s best prospects outside of the Premier League.
Brentford tried to sign him during the January transfer window but were unable to persuade Hull to sell him then and are again looking to agree to take him to London.
But Kesler said: “There is a firm offer, but we’re not doing anything yet. It’s not enough.”
The Hull-born Lewis-Potter been hugely impressive for the Tigers, who believe he can help them challenge for promotion this season.
“With Keano, the most important thing is that he is from here, and he has one more final step (promotion) to achieve in Hull,” Kesler added.
“If he believes in that, no problems. If he doesn’t believe in that, no problems and if the offer is right we will consider it.”
