Arsenal and Tottenham are among clubs battling to sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria, according to reports.
The Sun have picked up on Sky in Germany claiming that Manchester United have joined a race to sign Zakaria and have contacted his agent along with Arsenal and Liverpool.
And Tottenham are said to be monitoring developments ahead of a possible move for the Switzerland international, who has impressed in Germany and is said to be rated at £43m.
Arsenal boss Unai Emery is under pressure and it seems like he could certainly do with some reinforcements when the transfer window reopens in January.
Emery does have some talented youngsters at his disposal, though, and the signs were good for much of Wednesday’s Carabao Cup clash at Liverpool, where they went out on penalties after an incredible 5-5 draw.
“It was a crazy match. I am very proud [ of the players],” Emery told Sky Sports after the game.
“We had a high rhythm in the first 45 minutes. At the end we were winning until the last action. Penalties are 50/50 and we lost.
“We are sad but our work, we deserve to have more. There are lots of positives to take. Defensively, both teams cannot be happy with that. But for the supporters it was an amazing 90 minutes.
“The result was always changing. It was spectacular.”
