Paper round-up: United linked with Eriksen and Arsenal with Alderweireld

Manchester United want Christian Eriksen while Arsenal are among clubs eyeing Toby Alderweireld, reports claim.

There continues to be speculation over the future of Tottenham midfielder Eriksen, whose contract is due to expire next year.

He has been linked with Real Madrid as well as the likes of Inter Milan and Paris St-Germain in recent months.

And the Sunday Mirror say United are prepared to treble the Dane’s wages in order to take him to Old Trafford.

Spurs defender Alderweireld has also been the subject of much speculation, and The Sun on Sunday say Arsenal are eyeing a potential move to prise him away from their north London rivals.

Meanwhile, the Mail on Sunday say Tottenham are monitoring Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez, who is also wanted by West Ham.

The Sunday Express claim Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is a target for Inter Milan and that Michy Batshuayi, currently on loan from Chelsea at Crystal Palace, could be sold to Borussia Dortmund if the German club are willing to pay £40m.

The Mail on Sunday say Manchester United will rival Manchester City for the signing of Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Chelsea have held talks with three interested parties over a potential £2.5bn sale of the club, according to the Mail on Sunday.

The newspaper believe Jim Ratcliffe as well as United States and Asia-based finance groups are looking to buy the Blues from Roman Abramovich.

Ratcliffe, reported to be Britain’s richest man, has been linked with a potential takeover since last year.

The Mail on Sunday say Chelsea officials have in recent weeks taken part in what have been described as ‘exploratory talks’ with the three parties.

Chelsea are interested in Borussia Dortmund’s teenage Swedish striker Alexander Isak, the Sunday Mirror say.

Barcelona could make another move for Chelsea’s Willian, according to the Sunday Telegraph.

The Sunday Mirror reports that Cesc Fabregas felt he had to leave Chelsea because Jorginho is ‘like a son’ to boss Maurizio Sarri.

Fabregas, now with Monaco, is quoted as saying: “I was at Chelsea and I could have renewed my contract and stayed there but a new coach came with a player that for him was like his son.”

And the Sunday Mirror say Brentford striker Neal Maupay is wanted by Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and Huddersfield.
