Chelsea players reportedly unhappy about Azpilicueta contract situation

Several Chelsea players are said to be unhappy that the club have not extended Cesar Azplicueta’s contract.

The captain’s current deal expires at the end of the season and he has yet to sign new terms.

That means that Azpilicueta could potentially leave Stamford Bridge on a free transfer.

It has led to speculation about his future and he has been strongly linked with a return to his native Spain.

Numerous reports have suggested that Barcelona are keen to snap him up on a free, while Atletico Madrid have also been linked with him.

And Eurosport have reported that some Chelsea players are unhappy that their skipper’s future at the Bridge has not been cemented.

However, the player himself has said that he has no concerns about his future and indicated that he expects to stay.

“I don’t have any concerns. I feel fully trusted by the club,” Azpilicueta was quoted as saying by West London Sport in September.

“Yes it’s true that my contract ends in June. But I just focus on what is next, which is to try to play the best I can, and everything will take care of itself. I don’t need to say anything more.

“I just feel that I have to keep doing the things that I’m doing and everything will come by itself.

“I love to be here, I’ve felt loved since I arrived, and of course my aim is to be here for as long as I can.”
