Paper round-up: City continue to be linked with Sanchez and Walker

The Daily Mirror claim Manchester City players are convinced both Alexis Sanchez and Kyle Walker are heading for the Etihad Stadium.

Arsenal forward Sanchez and Tottenham’s England defender Walker have both been linked with City amid speculation over their futures.

The Mirror say Spurs want £50m for Walker, who has been tipped to leave the club this summer after falling out of favour with boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Chelsea have also been linked with him along with Bayern Munich, but it is claimed that the former Sheffield United man wants to return north.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are leading a race to sign Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, The Sun say.

It comes amid continued speculation over the future of the England international, whose representatives have been in talks over a new contract for him.

The Sun say Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp “is ready to test Arsenal’s resolve” and that the Reds bidding for Oxlade-Chamberlain “is likely to bring other would-be bidders out into the open.”

The Sun also claim Chelsea want West Ham star Manuel Lanzini.

The Daily Mirror say West Ham are set to keep Slaven Bilic as manager and are looking to sign four quality players in order to challenge for a top-six finish next season.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is again touted as a possible signing for the Hammers, as is Southampton’s Shane Long, and the Mirror also believe Swansea midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson is a target.

The Daily Telegraph say West Ham have ended their interest in Jermain Defoe and that the Sunderland striker could now join Bournemouth.

Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez wants to sign Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi on loan, the Daily Mirror say.

And speculation continues over the future of Diego Costa.

The Sun say Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is pleading with the club’s board to keep the former Atletico Madrid striker at Stamford Bridge amid interest from Chinese Super League side Tianjin Quanjian.

The Daily Telegraph say Atletico, who were previously tipped to re-sign Costa, remain interested and are still monitoring the situation.
