Townsend closer to Newcastle return but Palace’s Sakho talks reportedly held up

Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend is closing in on a return to Newcastle.

The two clubs have reportedly agreed a deal which would see the England international join the Magpies on loan with a view to making the move permanent in the summer.

Discussions had stalled over the loan fee Palace were demanding but The Sun says the move is proceeding.

Crystal Palace’s efforts to sign Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho have hit a stumbling block, according to the Daily Mirror.

Palace are keen to sign Frenchman Sakho, despite him not having played a competitive match since April.

But the Mirror claim Liverpool’s £20m asking price and trying to meet Sakho’s current £100,000-a-week wages may prove difficult for the Eagles.

Spartak Moscow have also been linked with Sakho, who was sent home from Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the United States due to concerns over his attitude and has been training with the Reds’ Under-23s squad.

Sky Sports News are additionally reporting that Olympiakos midfielder Luka Milivojevic is due to have a medical ahead of a £12.5m move to Selhurst Park.
