QPR star set to stay after Crystal Palace and Leeds United decide against cut-price deal

Bright Osayi-Samuel could start the season with QPR despite doubts over his longer-term future.

West London Sport reports that Osayi-Samuel is now expected to return for pre-season training at Rangers next week after rejecting a move to Club Brugge.

The same applies to Toni Leistner after Cologne opted against signing the centre-back on a permanent deal following the end of his loan spell.

Osayi-Samuel mulled over the move to Belgium after a £4.7m offer from Club Brugge was accepted by the R’s.

West London Sport say the winger and QPR were hoping that English clubs would come in for him and that Crystal Palace considered doing so, but no offers have been made.

Leeds United have been strongly linked with the 22-year-old but again there has been no approach.

News Osayi-Samuel might stay after all will please many Rangers fans but it does present a problem for the club if he continues to reject their offers of a longer-term contract.

His current deal at Loftus Road expires next year and QPR want to avoid losing him on a Bosman free transfer next summer or for a reduced fee in January.

Leistner, meanwhile, faces an uncertain future after his hopes of a return to his native Germany were ended.

He has been surplus to requirements under Rangers manager Mark Warburton and it remains to be seen if he is still in west London by the time the transfer window closes.

For the time being though it appears that Leistner is going nowhere.
