Crystal Palace forward Christian Benteke is set for a spell on the sidelines after having minor arthroscopic surgery on his knee, the Premier League club confirmed.
Belgian international Benteke has not featured for the Eagles since the start of September.
Following the procedure, Palace hope the former Liverpool striker will “return to training very soon”.
A club statement read: “Christian Benteke has undergone minor arthroscopic explorative surgery and washout of his knee, as it had not been settling with conservative management.
“The surgeon was happy with the outcome and we expect Christian to return to training very soon. A further update will be given in a few weeks’ time.”
In a post on his official Twitter account, the 27-year-old also sounded hopeful of a swift and positive recovery.
“After discussions with medical staff it was decided minor arthroscopy would be the best way to get me back on the pitch at 100%. All has gone well,” Benteke said.
“Now to concentrate on getting back to full health as soon as possible!”
