Tim Sherwood has suggested that Ruben Loftus-Cheek is looking to attract attention from other big clubs during his time on loan at Crystal Palace from Chelsea.
The midfielder has so far been unable to establish himself as a first-team regular at Stamford Bridge but has impressed since joining the Eagles.
And television pundit Sherwood believes an impressive season at Palace could see the likes of Manchester City move for Loftus-Cheek in the future.
Speaking on BT Sport, the former Tottenham player and manager said: “I feel this kid’s a Rolls Royce, Loftus-Cheek. I think he’s a real footballer.
“I think he’s putting himself in the shop window for someone like Man City. ‘If Chelsea don’t want me, I’ll tell you what, Man City might want me’ – and he’s capable of playing for them.
“I think he’s good enough to play for Chelsea Football Club. But you’re not going to get an opportunity there, so he’s done the right thing (by joining Crystal Palace).”
Loftus-Cheek, who has made four Premier League appearances this season, even impressed in Palace’s 5-0 defeat at the weekend at City, where he hit the post.
“Last week he played his first game for Roy Hodgson and Roy brought him off and got booed. This kid’s a top player,” Sherwood added.
