Former Tottenham youngster Nya Kirby has signed a contract with Crystal Palace.
Kirby has been given his first professional deal by the club, having recently turned 17.
He linked up with Palace last year and has impressed in matches for their development side this season.
Kirby, a highly-rated midfielder who has played for England at Under-16 and Under-17 levels, turned down a scholarship contract at Tottenham during the summer and was expected to sign for Chelsea.
The move did not go ahead, reportedly because Spurs threatened to report the Blues to the Premier League for an alleged illegal approach.
He was then tipped to join Arsenal, where he spent some time on trial. before linking up with Palace, where his performances have earned him a contract.
Palace have also announced they have signed up South Africa-born central defender Nikola Tavares after he impressed during a trial with them.
Tavares, 18, has featured for the Eagles’ Under-18 and development sides in recent weeks.
He is a former Croatia Under-18 international who was with Brentford prior to their academy being closed during the summer of 2016. He has also been at South African club Hellenic FC.
Meanwhile, defender Jason Akiotu, 18, has left Palace after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.
