Zaha ‘happy at Crystal Palace’ – Hodgson

Wilfried Zaha is “happy at Crystal Palace” despite saying he wants to play in the Champions League, according to Eagles boss Roy Hodgson.

Zaha scored in a shock 3-2 win for Palace at Arsenal, who have been linked with him along with Tottenham since he indicated to the Daily Mail that he would like a move.

“That wasn’t the performance of a guy looking to get away from his club,” Hodgson added at his post-match press conference.

Several other clubs, including Manchester United and Paris St-Germain, have also been linked with Zaha.

The Sunday Express declared that Spurs’ plans are “in ruins” because PSG are preparing a £65m bid for him.

The Mail on Sunday said Palace want £80m for Zaha and are reluctant to sell both the Ivory Coast international and right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has been linked with several clubs.

Zaha made his comments in an interview with the Daily Mail and the newspaper added that Arsenal are “big fans” of his and that a return to United could also be an option for him.

Zaha previously had a spell at Old Trafford before returning to Palace, and United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly keen to work with him again, having done so at Cardiff City.

Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund are also said to be interested in Zaha, who is keen to test himself again at the top level.

“For me to be better, to achieve what I know I am capable of, I have to aim to play at the very highest level, to win trophies,” Zaha said.

“I’m blessed to have come this far in my playing career. But I feel like there is so much more I have to offer.

“I have to experience the Champions League. I just need the opportunity, that’s it. And I’ll do the rest.”
