Crystal Palace are in the running to sign free agent Martin Caceres, according to a report in Italy.
The 29-year-old centre-back is without a club after leaving Juventus last summer, and so is available outside of the transfer window.
The former Barcelona and Sevilla man has not played a competitive first-team game for a year, after suffering an Achilles injury, and he reportedly failed a medical ahead of a proposed move to Trabzonspor.
AC Milan have since confirmed that Caceres, who has won 68 caps for Uruguay, had a medical with them but could not agree personal terms.
According to calciomercato.com, Caceres turned down a move to West Ham last month, but the website claims he will hold now talks with both Palace and Southampton.
The Sun, meanwhile, believe Sunderland are also interested in signing him.
A number of newspapers have picked up on quotes running in Turkey that suggest Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu wants to join Chelsea.
He is said to have told Turkish newspaper Fanatik: “God willing, I will be a Chelsea player next season. There are also a number of other clubs interested in signing me.”
According to the Daily Mail, the Blues have sent scouts to watch the 22-year-old Turkey international, who is currently serving a four-month suspension for breaching a contract with Trabzonspor.
