Allardyce keen to look at Crystal Palace youngster

Crystal Palace have recalled winger Sullay Kaikai from his loan spell at Brentford.

Kaikai played 18 times in the Championship for the Bees, and scored a match-saving brace as a substitute against Cardiff City on Boxing Day.

The 21-year-old joined Brentford in August in a season-long loan deal, but Palace have exercised an option to recall Sullay during the January transfer window.

With wingers Wilfried Zaha and Bakary Sako heading to the Africa Cup of Nations, Palace boss Sam Allardyce will now be able to assess Kaikai to see if he can provide him with another wide option.

Brentford boss Dean Smith told his club’s website: “We would have loved to have kept hold of Sullay for the season.

“He is a player with great potential and he has made an impact for us, particularly in recent matches.

“This is his first taste of Championship football and he has made the step up. He is a player I have enjoyed working with.”

Kaikai has been with Palace since he was 15, turning professional in the summer of 2013 and making his debut in a League Cup tie a year later, scoring against Newcastle United.

He also had loan spells at Crawley Town, Cambridge United and Shrewsbury Town.
