Leicester City have reportedly dropped their interest in Reece James because of Chelsea’s reluctance to sell him.
The Mail on Sunday say Leicester are targeting Luton Town’s highly-rated full-back James Justin, having decided to look elsewhere after initially targeting the Chelsea youngster.
James impressed during a season-long loan at Wigan last term and Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers was said to be keen to snap him up.
Manchester United have also been linked with James and it remains to be seen whether they make a move for him this summer.
Reports have suggested that United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been considering James as a possible alternative option after Crystal Palace made it clear they want big money for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Chelsea regard James as one of the club’s best prospects and are keen to tie him to a new contract at Stamford Bridge.
But the immediate priority is to establish the seriousness of an injury the player recently sustained while on international duty.
James was stretchered off during England Under-20s’ game against Chile at the Toulon Tournament.
Initial reports suggested he might well have suffered a broken ankle, but updates since then have been more encouraging and more news is expected in the coming days.
