Frank Lampard has told Billy Gilmour that the hard work is just beginning after the youngster’s fantastic display for Chelsea this week.
The teenage midfielder earned rave reviews for his performance in the FA Cup fifth-round victory over Liverpool.
Blues boss Frank Lampard is delighted with Gilmour’s progress – but says there is plenty more to come.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Everton, Lampard was asked what Gilmour had been like in training after all the praise coming his way.
Lampard said: “He’s been the same. I’m sure he enjoyed it – he should do, his family were here for the game.
“Knowing Billy, even at a young age he’s a very determined young lad. I think he’s very smart and I think he’ll understand that it was a really good game for him but the hard work starts now.
“I think he should enjoy the moment. I’m delighted for him. But in terms of how I’ve seen him around the place: same attitude, same training, same ethic, same quality. So all good.”
Gilmour is expected to play against Everton as Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante are both injured and Jorginho is suspended for the game at Stamford Bridge.
