Eden Hazard has suggested Chelsea must play a more attacking brand of football if they are to improve next season.
Hazard’s first-half penalty won the FA Cup for the Blues, giving them a 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Wembley.
But it has been a largely disappointing season, with Chelsea having failed to qualify for the Champions League.
There have also been reports that relations between Hazard and manager Antonio Conte have been frosty.
Conte is widely expected to be replaced this summer and there has been speculation over Hazard’s future for some time.
And Hazard told the BBC: “We scored one goal and it’s enough, but I think if we want to win a lot of games we need to play better, because we just played defensively.
“We were lucky to score one goal and that is the most important thing. In the final you just need to win and we won it, so we are just happy.”
Asked about his future, Hazard said: “Now I’m just happy – to see the fans celebrate.
“We didn’t play a great season, but at least we finished well. That’s the important thing.”
Captain Gary Cahill said the victory was much needed given Chelsea’s struggles this season.
Cahill said: “This was to save our season. And by that I’m not saying we’ve had a magnificent season by any stretch, but we’re used to winning and we have to try and win things.”
