Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has admitted he is concerned about his players going away on international duty later this month.
International matches are a worry for managers at the best of times, but coronavirus protocols means now is a particularly challenging period.
The Blues are unbeaten in their 10 matches since Tuchel took over and the last thing the German wants is to be without key players as his side chase a top-four finish.
Speaking at a press conference, Tuchel said: “I am absolutely worried. My target is to play in the Premier League and if I have players who are in quarantine then I cannot build a group that we want.
“This is the risk and I am absolutely worried about this situation but I am also sure that the club knows how to handle it, and if it is maybe the consequence that players can’t go then this is the consequence.
“The situation is extraordinary and we have to adapt and we will do this as a club and we will take these decisions when these decisions are taken.”
Tuchel has had to manage the fitness of the likes of N’Golo Kante, Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic, who have all had issues to contend with.
Kante was outstanding in Thursday’s win at Liverpool and Tuchel is hoping the Frenchman has turned the corner following his injury problems.
“We have to manage him. We do this together with our physical coaches and we have to take care of him,” Tuchel said.
“But this is momentum and I hope we will be able to rely on him in every game.”
