Jadon Sancho has revealed Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba were among the players he most looked up to as a child.
Chelsea have been linked with a move for England international Sancho, who has been a revelation in Germany since leaving Manchester City to join Borussia Dortmund.
And speculation he could end up at Stamford Bridge has increased after Sancho’s comments about Lampard and the Chelsea manager’s former Blues team-mate Didier Drogba, the Daily Star reports.
Sancho said: “Ronaldinho was the main guy I used to watch on YouTube. But I liked Frank Lampard quite a lot and Didier Drogba when they were playing for Chelsea. They were the three players I looked up to.”
Sancho is among several players Chelsea have been linked with amid reports the club are confident they will be able to sign players when the transfer window opens again in January.
A two-window transfer ban imposed on the club by UEFA meant Lampard was unable to sign new players in the summer and it is due to cease at the end of the season.
However, a successful appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport would lead to the ban being lifted in January, enabling Lampard to add to his squad sooner rather than later.
