City reportedly confident of beating Chelsea to Nunez deal

Manchester City are reportedly confident of beating Chelsea to the signing of Benfica striker Darwin Nunez.

Both clubs are said to be interested in the 22-year-old Uruguay international, whose form in Portugal has led to speculation about his future.

Liverpool and Manchester United have also recently been linked with Nunez, with reports suggesting they have sent scouts to watch him in action.

But the Daily Star claim City believe they have an advantage over their Premier League rivals because they seemingly already have a good relationship with Benfica.

The Star declare that “City are convinced they will have first shout at signing Nunez – thanks to their superb relationship with Benfica in the transfer market” because in recent years they have signed defender Ruben Dias and keeper Ederson from the Portuguese club.

Nunez reportedly has a buy out clause of £125m but the Star suggest City believe they could land him for a fee closer to £70m when Benfica are ready to sell him.

Meanwhile, The Express have picked up on speculation linking Chelsea with teenage forward Mohamed-Ali Cho.

It comes after Caughtoffside.com claimed that the Blues had watched the 17-year-old in action for French side Angers ahead of a potential move.
