Frank Lampard believes Chelsea have been so good on their travels this season because home teams are open to their counter attacks.
Chelsea’s 2-1 win at Watford on Saturday was their seventh consecutive away victory in all competitions.
They have sometimes stumbled at Stamford Bridge but have been lethal away.
“I don’t think there’s one absolute thing that’s making us win away. They’re just working hard and also the way we’re working off the ball,” Blues boss Lampard said at his post-match press conference.
“Maybe away from home teams open up against us slightly more. That gives us the opportunity, with the pace we have, and we can counter-attack and create chances.
“Whereas maybe at the Bridge teams can make it more difficult to do that with such freedom. Maybe that’s why we have been so free-flowing away from home.”
On a less positive note for Chelsea, Lampard admitted that Jorginho being suspended for next weekend’s game against Crystal Palace is a “blow”.
Jorginho must serve a one-match ban after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season in the game at Vicarage Road.
Lampard was full of praise for Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic, who were outstanding in midfield again.
