Chelsea have turned down an approach from West Ham for Ross Barkley, according to the Daily Mirror.
It comes 24 hours after the same newspaper reported that Hammers boss David Moyes was looking to sign Barkley on loan.
Barkley played under Moyes at Everton and the Scot is said to be keen to take him to the London Stadium for the rest of the season.
Chelsea reportedly blocked the move but the Mirror say Moyes will not give up and will keep trying to get a deal done.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Moyes refused to confirm his interest in the England international.
“The one thing I will never do is talk about players at other clubs, not to upset other managers and it’s wrong to do so,” Moyes said.
But he added that he is definitely keen to bring in new players before the transfer window closes.
Moyes said: “Anything we think will improve our side we will be interested to try and bring in.
“I would like to find a way of bringing a level of player in that we can rely on, consistently.
“But I’ve also got a mind set of bring in young players.Obviously young players take time to settle. We are in a league position where we’ve got to be careful bringing in too many young players.
“So that might not be the ideal scenario right now, but my long-term picture would be sign young players for the future, for the longevity here, for resale as well, that’s part of the business in football.”
