Bayern Munich’s interest in Hudson-Odoi ‘has vanished’

Bayern Munich have reportedly ended their interest in Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Bayern previously tried in vain to sign the Chelsea winger, who signed a long-term deal at Stamford Bridge after breaking into the first team.

More recently the German giants were said to be still pursuing a deal for Hudson-Odoi.

But Times journalist Constantine Eckler has reported that Bayern’s interest has “vanished”.

Eckler tweeted: “Bayern Munich’s interest in Callum Hudson-Odoi has, somewhat unsurprisingly, vanished, as they couldn’t offer him the salary he currently earns at Chelsea anyway.”

After breaking into the Chelsea side, Hudson-Odoi’s progress was hampered by an Achilles tendon injury and he has since been unable to establish himself as a first-team regular, both under Frank Lampard and current boss Thomas Tuchel.

He faces major competition for a place, with the likes of Christian Pulisic, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech all in contention.

His first-team prospects therefore look bleak and there is again speculation that his future could lie elsewhere.

Eurosport have reported that Borussia Dortmund are interested in Hudson-Odoi and see him as a possible replacement for Jadon Sancho.

It comes amid continued speculation over the future of England international Sancho, who has been linked with Premier League clubs – including Chelsea – but seems close to signing for Manchester United.

Eurosport suggest Chelsea could be willing to sell Hudson-Odoi if an offer comes in for the 20-year-old.

He made his Blues debut in an FA Cup tie against Newcastle in 2018 and has since made 57 league appearances, with 13 of them coming since Tuchel took over in January.
