Paper round-up: Real Madrid could scrap Hazard move

There continues to be speculation over the future of Chelsea star Eden Hazard.

Hazard, whose contract at Stamford Bridge expires next year, has repeatedly been linked with Real Madrid.

The Sunday Express say Real are increasingly confident of signing Hazard and also want his Blues team-mate N’Golo Kante.

However, the Sunday Times, on the other hand, say Real have their sights set on Neymar and could sign the Brazilian superstar rather than move for Hazard.

The Sun on Sunday say Chelsea are keen on Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi following reports Real have cooled their interest in the Argentine striker.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have joined the race to sign Birmingham City striker Che Adams, according to the Sunday Mirror.

The prolific Adams recently scored in six consecutive Championship matches and has been linked with the likes of Burnley and Southampton.

But the Sunday Mirror say Arsenal and Manchester United are now showing an interest in the 22-year-old.

The Sunday Mirror also say Arsenal and United want Kostas Manolas and that Roma are looking to remove a release clause in the defender’s contract.

The Sun on Sunday say Arsenal are in contention to sign Ajax and Netherlands centre-back Mattijs de Ligt but would need to trim their wage bill before buying him.

Marc Overmars will not leave Ajax before the end of the season but could become Arsenal director of football in the summer if the club are willing to wait for him, according to the Mail on Sunday.

The Sun on Sunday say West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini will move for Manchester United defender Antonio Valencia if Pablo Zabaleta decides to retire at the end of the season.

The Sun on Sunday also reports that Declan Rice’s father is disappointed the West Ham youngster has switched his international allegiance from the Republic of Ireland to England.
