Chelsea and Man City eyeing hot prospect Elliot

Chelsea and Manchester City are showing a strong interest in Fulham prospect Harvey Elliot.

Both clubs have been monitoring the 15-year-old for some time and are continuing to keep tabs on him.

Elliot made his senior debut in Fulham’s recent Carabao Cup game against Millwall, becoming the youngest player to make an appearance for the club.

Fulham are no strangers to interest in their youngsters, with Ryan Sessegnon having long been on the radars of top clubs while others in the Whites academy set-up are regarded as excellent prospects.

The club have retained Sessegnon, signing him on a professional contract earlier this year despite reports suggesting he would move elsewhere.

They can feel confident of doing the same with Eliott, whose first-team chances are likely to be much greater at Craven Cottage than were he to move on at such a young age.

Not that Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic has any intention of giving him a run in the side just yet.

Speaking after the Millwall game, Jokanovic said: “I don’t want anybody to be confused about this situation.

“He’s definitely a talented player – the club know it – but I found a moment in a game when we were more or less in a comfortable situation for one really young man. He played well, and that’s it. We don’t need to shake his hand and make him confused.

“There’s a long way in front of him for improvement; we gave him a chance to test himself.

“We expect in a few years he’ll be a really important player for Fulham. But in this moment it’s better for him we don’t mention this situation so much.”
