Five players could go as Chelsea look to seal striker deal

Chelsea are reportedly planning to offload five players in order to fund new signings.

It comes as the Blues continue to be tipped to bring in a striker this summer, with Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland and Inter Milan’s former Chelsea man Romelu Lukaku among those linked.

The Express have picked up on a report that Chelsea plan to ship out Kepa Arrizalabaga, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ross Barkley, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham. The story originally appeared in Irish publication Sunday World.

The Express have also picked up on reports in Lukaku’s native Belgium claiming that talks have already begun with his agent over a potential move to Chelsea, while Newcastle are interested in signing Barkley, according to The Athletic.

Hudson-Odoi, meanwhile, is again being linked with a move to Germany – this time to Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern Munich previously tried in vain to sign the winger, who signed a long-term deal at Stamford Bridge after breaking into the first team.

But his progress was hampered by an Achilles tendon injury and he has since been unable to establish himself as a first-team regular, both under Frank Lampard and current boss Thomas Tuchel.

He faces major competition for a place, with the likes of Christian Pulisic, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech all in contention.

His first-team prospects therefore look bleak and there is again speculation that his future could lie elsewhere.

Eurosport reports that Dortmund are interested in Hudson-Odoi and see him as a possible replacement for Jadon Sancho.

England international Sancho been linked with Premier League clubs – including Chelsea.

Eurosport suggest Chelsea could be willing to sell Hudson-Odoi if an offer comes in for the 20-year-old.

He made his Blues debut in an FA Cup tie against Newcastle in 2018 and has since made 57 league appearances, with 13 of them coming since Tuchel took over in January.
