Everton reportedly reluctant to let Digne join Chelsea on loan

Chelsea continue to be linked with Everton left-back Lucas Digne, with Ben Chilwell set to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.

Sportsmail are reporting that Digne, who has not played for the Toffees since the 4-1 defeat to Liverpool on 1 December, is on Chelsea’s radar in the January transfer window.

Digne has reportedly fallen out with boss Rafa Benitez and looks set for a move away from the club.

And the report suggests that Blues boss Thomas Tuchel could look to bring in the defender on a short-term loan deal until the end of the season, with ex-Everton midfielder Ross Barkley potentially heading in the opposite direction.

But Sportsmail add that Everton might be reluctant to let Digne leave on a short-term basis.

Chilwell’s anterior cruciate ligament injury has left Marcos Alonso as the only available recognised left wing-back to play in Tuchel’s system.

Chelsea are also said to hold interest in Barcelona full-back Sergino Dest, who moved to the Nou Camp from Ajax last year.

The Daily Express reported earlier this month that the Blues would like to sign the versatile defender, though Bayern Munich are also said to be interested.
