Dortmund chief sends defiant message to Chelsea and Man Utd over Sancho

Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke has insisted his club will not sell Jadon Sancho on the cheap.

Sancho has been tipped to return to England this summer and Chelsea are among the clubs to have been linked with him.

He has made a big impact in Germany since being signed from Manchester City and a move to the Premier League now looks highly likely.

Sancho was a Chelsea fan as a boy and reports previously suggested that Stamford Bridge was his most likely destination.

However, Manchester United have been linked with him for some time and reports now say they are leading a race to sign the England international, who has also been linked with Liverpool.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is known to be an admirer of Sancho – and keen to boost his squad’s attacking options.

Whoever looks to buy him should expect to pay a hefty transfer fee, Watzke says.

He told German newspaper Bild: “You always have to respect what the player wants.

“We already said before Coronavirus that our preference is for Jadon to remain with us.

“I can say clearly that even the very rich clubs, despite the current existential crisis, shouldn’t think they can get a bargain from us.

“We don’t have to sell anyone below their value.”
